A. GENERAL PROFILE:

Namakkal district was created by bifurcating the erstwhile Salem district and created in 1997. The Geographical area of the district is 34,29,671 hectares, which is divided into 4 taluks, namely Namakkal, Paramathi, Tiruchengode and Rasipuram. Of these, Namakkal, the district headquarters has the most extensive coverage of 1,767,75 sq.kms.

The district boundaries are :

  East : Perambalur & Salem Districts.
  West : Erode District
  North : Salem District
  South : Karur District.

Power Supply There is no power generation in the district. However, the district is supplied power by Tuticorin and Neyveli Thermal Power Stations of the neighbouring districts through State and Central grid.
